Saving a template in UpOrder keeps your changes in UpOrder. To make those changes appear in live customer emails, you need to publish the matching notification template to Shopify.
Shopify still sends the notification email. UpOrder provides the email design and HTML that Shopify uses when that notification is triggered.
Before you publish
Make sure your template changes are saved in UpOrder.
Know which notification you want to publish, such as Order confirmation, Shipping confirmation, or Abandoned checkout.
If you have multiple template sets, confirm that you are publishing the correct set.
Publish manually
Manual publishing is the most reliable option and works from any supported browser.
In UpOrder, open the template set you want to publish.
If the top-right button says Save, click it first to save your latest changes. When your changes are saved, use Publish to continue.
If you see the Chrome extension page, you can either use the extension flow or click Manually publish templates.
On the Publish to Shopify page, choose the notification you want to update.
Click Copy to Clipboard.
Click the Click here link to open the matching Shopify notification editor.
Finish in Shopify
In Shopify, click into the Email body (HTML) field.
Select all of the existing HTML and replace it with the UpOrder HTML you copied.
Click Preview to review the notification before saving.
If everything looks correct, click Save.
Repeat these steps for each Shopify notification template that you want to update.
Using Easy Publish or the Chrome extension
If you use Google Chrome, UpOrder may offer the Chrome extension publishing flow. This can publish multiple templates faster by opening Shopify and copying the templates for you.
If you use the extension flow, keep the browser tab open until publishing finishes. If the extension is unavailable, does not complete, or you only need to update one template, use the manual publishing steps above.
After publishing
Send yourself a Shopify test email for the notification you updated.
Check the email on desktop and mobile if the notification has important layout changes.
Remember that saving in UpOrder later will not automatically update Shopify. Publish the template again after future changes.
Troubleshooting
I clicked Save in UpOrder, but my live emails did not change.
Save only stores your edits in UpOrder. Publish the template to Shopify for the live notification to change.
The Shopify editor opened the wrong notification.
Go back to the UpOrder Publish to Shopify page, select the correct notification, and use that notification's Click here link.
The preview has an error or looks wrong.
Do not save the Shopify template until the preview looks correct. Paste the UpOrder HTML again, or revert the Shopify notification and try publishing again.
I do not see the publish page.
Make sure you are on an active UpOrder plan and that the template set has been saved.
