How can I recommend products to my customers using UpOrder?

Product recommendations help you use Shopify notification emails to bring customers back to your store after they place an order.

In UpOrder, you can add a Product Recommendations component to the notification templates where you want recommended products to appear.

How to add product recommendations to a template

  1. Open the template set you want to edit in UpOrder.

  2. Open the notification template where you want the recommendations to appear.

  3. Add the Product Recommendations component to the template.

  4. Click the component in the email preview to review its settings on the right side of the builder.

  5. Adjust the component styling and recommendation settings as needed.

  6. Save your changes.

Product recommendations are template-specific. If you want recommendations to appear in more than one notification email, add and review the component in each template where you want it to appear.

Using conditional recommendations

If you want more control over which products are recommended, use conditional recommendations. Conditional recommendations let you create rules based on what the customer purchased, then recommend products from a specific collection when the rule matches.

For example, you might recommend products from a matching accessory collection when a customer buys from a certain product collection.

When you use conditional recommendations, make sure you also choose a default recommendation source for cases where the customer's order does not match one of your rules.

Testing product recommendations

Product recommendations rely on order and product data, so they may not always appear in simple preview or test-email workflows. For the most realistic test, use an order-based notification test and make sure the recommended products are active, available, and have images. You will need to publish your updated templates to Shopify before these changes are reflected in your live notification emails.
