UpOrder's Chrome extension is an optional publishing tool for stores that want to publish multiple notification templates to Shopify faster. It opens the matching Shopify notification template pages and publishes the selected UpOrder templates for you.

If you only need to update one template, cannot install the extension, or run into trouble with the automated flow, use the manual publishing steps here: How to publish your UpOrder templates to Shopify.

Before you start

  • Use Google Chrome.

  • Make sure you are logged into the correct Shopify store.

  • Save your UpOrder template set before publishing.

  • Keep the browser window open while the extension is publishing templates.

Install or detect the extension

  1. In UpOrder, open the template set you want to publish.

  2. Click Publish. If the builder shows Save instead, click Save first, then continue to publishing.

  3. If UpOrder does not detect the extension, you will see the Install Extension page.

  4. Click Install Chrome Extension and complete the install from the Chrome Web Store.

  5. Return to the UpOrder tab. Once the extension is detected, UpOrder will move you to Easy Publish.

If you do not want to use the extension, click Manually publish templates instead.

Choose which templates to publish

  1. On the Easy Publish page, review the short How it works section.

  2. Click Select templates if you want to choose specific notifications.

  3. Use the checkboxes, section expanders, Select all, or Deselect all to control which templates will be published.

  4. When the selection is correct, click Publish All or Publish [number] templates.

While publishing is running

  • The extension opens Shopify in a new tab for each selected template.

  • You can watch the process or leave it running in the background, but do not close the UpOrder or Shopify tabs until it finishes.

  • You will receive an in-app notification when publishing is complete.

After publishing

  • Send yourself a Shopify test email for any important templates you updated.

  • Spot check the Shopify notification editor if you want to confirm a specific template was updated.

  • If you make more changes in UpOrder later, publish again so Shopify uses the newest version.

Troubleshooting

The extension page keeps asking me to install the extension.
Confirm you are using Google Chrome and that the UpOrder extension is installed and enabled in the same Chrome profile. Then refresh the UpOrder tab.

Publishing stops partway through.
Keep the tabs open, make sure you are still logged into Shopify, and try publishing the remaining templates again. If it still does not complete, use manual publishing for the remaining notifications.

I am logged into more than one Shopify store.
Before publishing, make sure Chrome is using the Shopify admin for the store you want to update. If needed, close other Shopify admin tabs or log out of the other store first.

I need the most reliable option.
Use manual publishing. It takes longer, but it gives you direct control over each Shopify notification template.
