Understanding UpOrder's billing structure

How UpOrder usage-based billing works, where to view current usage, and how charges appear through Shopify.

UpOrder uses usage-based billing. Your usage is based on the order volume connected to notification emails that use UpOrder templates during each billing cycle.

This means your UpOrder usage can change as your store's order volume changes. Your current Shopify-approved billing terms determine the rates, limits, trial period, and any included usage for your store.

How usage is counted

UpOrder tracks email sends that use UpOrder templates and correspond to a unique Shopify order ID. If a customer places one order and that order triggers more than one notification email, that order is counted once for usage purposes.

For example, if one order sends an order confirmation and later sends a shipping confirmation, that still represents one Shopify order ID.

What is a billing cycle?

Your UpOrder usage resets at the end of each billing cycle. The reset date is shown in the Usage & Plans page inside UpOrder. Your UpOrder usage cycle may not match the same dates as your Shopify billing cycle, so usage charges can appear on a Shopify bill after the usage period has ended.

Where to view current usage

From Shopify, open the UpOrder app and go to Usage & Plans. This page shows your current order count for the cycle, the plan reset date, revenue attributed to UpOrder for the cycle, and billing history when available.

How charges appear

UpOrder charges are processed through Shopify and appear on your Shopify bill. UpOrder cannot accept Shopify app charges on your behalf. A Shopify store owner or an admin with the correct permissions must approve any Shopify app charge or plan change.
