There are a few different ways to preview what a notification email will look like, depending on what you are trying to check.
Use the UpOrder builder while you are designing
The UpOrder builder shows a live preview of the notification template you are editing. This is the best place to review layout, branding, spacing, component order, and general content before you save or publish your changes.
The builder preview uses sample order data. Dynamic details such as customer names, order numbers, product recommendations, discounts, tracking links, and conditional content may look different when Shopify sends a real notification.
Use Shopify's preview or test email after publishing
After your UpOrder template has been published or copied into Shopify, you can preview the version that is currently saved in Shopify from Shopify's notification settings.
This is the best way to check the template that Shopify will use for test emails and live customer notifications.
If you changed a template in UpOrder but have not published those changes to Shopify yet, Shopify's preview and test email will still show the older version saved in Shopify.

Use a real test order for order-specific content
Some content depends on real order data or a real Shopify event. If you need to test order-specific Liquid, product recommendations, conditional rules, tracking links, or discount behavior, the most reliable test is to place a test order and review the notification workflow from that order.

Use Shopify's preview or test email to review the template currently saved in Shopify.
Use a real test order when the content depends on order, customer, product, discount, or tracking data.
Publish your updated UpOrder template to Shopify before expecting Shopify previews, test emails, or live customer emails to show the latest version.
