Can I choose which products are recommended in my emails?

Yes, but UpOrder does not usually let you hand-pick the exact products that appear in every live email. Product Recommendations are dynamic: UpOrder chooses products from the eligible product pool when the email is generated.

You can control which products are eligible by choosing the collection used by the Product Recommendations component.

Important: builder products are previews

The products shown in the builder are preview items. They help you see the layout, spacing, title style, button style, and number of recommendation slots. Live emails are populated with dynamic recommendations.

Choose the collection used for recommendations

  1. Open the template in the UpOrder builder.

  2. Select the Product Recommendations component.

  3. In the settings panel, use Default Collection to choose the collection UpOrder should recommend from.

  4. If you do not see the collection you want, click Load More Collections.

  5. Save the template.

Using the default UpOrder collection

By default, the Product Recommendations component may use the UpOrder - Recommended Products collection. If you want to change which products can appear from that default pool, edit that collection in Shopify. You can add or remove products, or adjust the collection conditions if it is an automated collection.

Can I recommend different products in different situations?

Yes. If you want recommendations to change based on what the customer purchased, use Conditional Recommendations. This lets you choose a purchase collection and a recommendation collection, so customers who bought from one collection can be shown recommendations from another collection.

Make the change live

After changing the Product Recommendations settings, save the template and publish or update the Shopify version of that notification email. Otherwise, the change will only exist in UpOrder and will not affect live customer emails.
