A navigation bar gives customers a simple path back to the most useful parts of your store after they receive a Shopify notification email.
Common links include your store homepage, best sellers, new arrivals, sale collection, loyalty page, help center, or order-tracking page. Keep the list short so it is easy to scan on mobile.
How to turn on the Navigation Bar
Open UpOrder in Shopify.
Go to Notification Templates.
Open the template set you want to edit.
Click the Header section in the left sidebar or in the email preview.
In the Header settings, expand Navigation Bar.
Turn on Include navigation bar.
Click Edit Links to update the navigation headings and URLs.
Save your changes, then publish or copy the updated template into Shopify.
Editing the links
The Navigation Bar uses heading and URL pairs. For example, a heading might be SHOP and the URL might be your store homepage or a featured collection.
Use full links, including https://, and make sure every link opens the page you expect before publishing the template.
Navigation links are stored with the template set settings, so the same navigation links can be used across the notification emails in that set. You can still choose where the navigation bar appears by editing the Header settings for the templates you publish.
Styling the Navigation Bar
In the Navigation Bar settings, you can adjust the font style, font size, spacing, height, background color, and font color. For most stores, the navigation bar works best when it is simple and matches the rest of the email design.
Best practices
Use a small number of high-value links.
Keep headings short, especially for mobile email clients.
Link to evergreen pages instead of short-lived campaigns unless you plan to update the template often.
Do not make the navigation bar compete with the main call-to-action in the email.
Preview and test the email before publishing, especially if you changed spacing or colors.
Before customers see the change
Saving your changes keeps them in UpOrder. To update the live notification emails Shopify sends to customers, publish or copy the updated template into Shopify.
